Some discoveries only happen because someone chooses to slow down.
The mountain trail had been gently climbing all morning.

Further ahead, a nature photographer had wandered away from the path and knelt beside a cluster of tiny wildflowers growing between a scattering of weathered rocks.
At first, they seemed almost out of place.
The ground looked too dry.
The cracks too narrow.
The conditions too harsh for something so delicate.
Curious, a few of us wandered over to see what had caught the photographer's attention.
He smiled without looking away from his camera.
"Isn't it amazing?" he said softly.
"Nobody planted them here."
"Nobody watered them."
"Yet somehow... they decided to bloom anyway."
