Learning To Let Good Enough Be Enough
🌳 The Bent Tree Still Grows
Why Life's Hardest Seasons Don't Define You
Some forest trails seem to invite conversation without anyone planning it.
This was one of those walks.
The morning had been filled with laughter, stories and the occasional stop to admire something beautiful along the way. Nobody was rushing. The trail seemed to encourage a slower pace.
Then, just around a bend, someone quietly stopped.
"Look at that tree."
Every one of us turned.
Unlike the tall trees surrounding it, this one leaned sharply to one side.
Its trunk had clearly been bent years ago.
Perhaps by a fierce storm.
Perhaps by heavy snow.
Perhaps by something no one walking that trail would ever know.
For a few moments, nobody spoke.
Then someone quietly smiled.
"It never stopped growing."
They were right.
Although its trunk would never stand perfectly straight again, every branch still reached towards the morning light.
Fresh leaves covered its canopy.
Birds had built nests among its branches.
Life hadn't abandoned it.
It had simply found another way to grow.
Standing there, it was impossible not to feel as though this old tree had been quietly carrying a piece of wisdom long before any of us arrived.
Not because it had escaped hardship.
Because it hadn't.
Because it had lived through it.
🌿 What It Reminded Us Of
Life bends every one of us eventually.
Sometimes gently.
Sometimes without warning.
A relationship ends.
A loved one leaves this world.
A diagnosis changes everything.
A dream quietly slips away.
A season arrives that asks more of us than we ever imagined we could give.
And somewhere in the middle of those moments, many of us begin believing the same story.
"I'll never be the person I used to be."
Perhaps that's true.
But maybe that's not something to fear.
The bent tree will never become the straight sapling it once was either.
Yet nobody standing on that forest trail thought it was less beautiful.
If anything...
Its story made it more remarkable.
🌿 The Ancient Wisdom Of The Tree
Trees have been standing through storms for millions of years.
They do not waste energy wishing yesterday had been different.
They don't compare their scars.
They don't apologise for the branches they lost.
When the storm passes...
They simply keep reaching towards the light.
Perhaps that is why forests feel so peaceful.
They are filled with living reminders that growth is still possible after hardship.
Not despite the storm.
Because of what the storm revealed.
🌿 A Different Way To See It
Maybe healing isn't about returning to who you were before life changed.
Maybe it's about becoming someone wiser because life did.
The strongest parts of us are often shaped in seasons we would never have chosen.
Compassion grows because we've known pain.
Patience grows because we've waited.
Courage grows because we've been afraid and kept walking anyway.
The tree isn't trying to erase what happened.
Neither should we.
Our stories don't make us less worthy.
They make us beautifully human.
🌿 A Question To Carry
As we continued walking, one question stayed with all of us.
What if the parts of your life that feel bent...
...are actually the parts still reaching towards the light?
Perhaps that's worth sitting with for a while.
🌿 One Small Step Forward
Today, instead of focusing on what life has taken from you...
Pause for a moment and ask yourself:
"What has this season quietly grown within me?"
Maybe it's resilience.
Maybe it's empathy.
Maybe it's stronger boundaries.
Maybe it's a deeper appreciation for life itself.
Whatever your answer...
Don't overlook it.
Some of the strongest roots grow where nobody else can see them.
✨ Soulful Wisdom
Before leaving the forest, most of us looked back one last time.
The bent tree was still there.
Quiet.
Steady.
Still reaching for the light.
Long after we had gone, it would continue doing exactly what it had always done.
Growing.
Perhaps that's the ancient wisdom it had been patiently waiting to share.
Life may bend you.
It may change your direction.
It may leave marks that never completely disappear.
But it does not get to decide whether you continue growing.
That choice still belongs to you.
So if today you feel changed...
Take heart.
The tree reminds us that strength isn't found in standing perfectly straight.
Strength is found in continuing to reach for the light...
Even after the storm.
And perhaps that's exactly what you're doing.
One quiet day at a time.
